From May 12 to 14, partners of the Horizon Europe MISO project came together in Bordeaux for our second collaborative field experiment, hosted by Azur Drones (AZD) in their home city.
Researchers and engineers from NILU (Norway), Senseair (Sweden), CNR (Italy), and AZD (France) worked side by side to test and refine sensor technologies developed within the project.
🛠️ Together, we evaluated various electronic and mechanical sensor designs, individually and in combination, with and without thermal stabilization, against reference instruments. These tests aimed to ensure reliability and accuracy across real-world conditions.
🌡️ A key focus was on how well the sensors detect gas components under varying environmental conditions, and how they store and transmit the resulting data.
📡 One major challenge addressed was data retrieval in remote areas without infrastructure. To tackle this, both the sensors and the drone system were equipped with LoRa radio modules, allowing us to test long-range, low-power communication for sensor data transmission.
